This is the 1st Port Perry Walk for Dog Guides Port Perry is joining the 300+ other walks across Ontario on the National Walk Day. By participating in the Walk, you can help provide life-changing Dog Guides to Canadians with disabilities. Each Walk is organized by local volunteers with support from Lions Foundation of Canada. To date, the Walk has raised more than $15 million! The National Walk date this year is Sunday, May 27th 2018. Registration starts at 10:30 at the gazebo in Palmer Park in Port Perry and the walk starts promptly at 11 You do not need a dog to walk ! The acclaimed Durham Ukulele Klu, the "Dukes", will support the walk with their music. There will be a few speeches including our MPP Granville Anderson and municipal dignitaries. Teak, the famous Port Perry Portugese Water dog, has accepted the nomination to lead the walk as the golden retrievers lack focus and attention. We are also expecting some actual dog guides. Thanks to our sponsors, 100% of the funds raised from the Walk go directly towards the raising, training and placement of Dog Guides for Canadians with medical or physical disabilities. Dog Guides Canada has already provided specially trained Dog Guides to more than 2764 men, women and children, all without any government funding. With your help more people will experience the mobility, safety and independence a devoted Dog Guide brings.
