I received an incredible gift in 2017. That was my canine vision service dog Nutmeg. Nutmeg changed my life the second I met her. I remember living at the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides training school and realizing my life just changed for the second time in a few years. I had a stroke in 2014 which I lost all my vision in 3 months. When you go blind and had full vision your entire life you loose your independence in a blink of an eye. You have to rely on others to help you. Once Nutmeg came into my life I started to realize I could be independent once again.. You can safely travel the streets again knowing that your service dog will keep you safe. We need to make sure anyone who has a physical or medical disability has the chance to have a dog like Nutmeg.
