My name is Sandy and I am a recipient of a Hearing Dog Guide, Caydi. Without having Caydi by my side, life would be very difficult and look very different. I lost a significant part of my hearing overnight on 3 different occasions. I now have a profound hearing loss. I am so very grateful to have Caydi to alert me to the door bell, alarm clock, fire alarm, and when someone is calling my name just to name a few of her skills. She provides security and comfort at night knowing I'll be okay when my husband is away for work. So its that time of year again where I am asking for your support through the Walk for Dog Guides to help them provide dogs to others in need. It costs approximately $25,000 to raise and train a Dog Guide and your support enables them to provide Dog Guide to qualified applicants.
Thank you for registering for the Walk for Dog Guides! Thanks to our sponsors, 100 per cent of the funds raised from the Walk go directly towards the raising, training and placement of Dog Guides for Canadians with medical or physical disabilities. Dog Guides Canada has already provided specially trained Dog Guides to more than 3,000 men, women and children, all without any government funding. With your help more people will experience the mobility, safety and independence a devoted Dog Guide brings.
